Aboriginal Training to Employment Program (ATEP) and First Nations Training to Employment Program (FNTEP)

These programs support Indigenous members who are unemployed or marginally employed by helping them get the necessary skills and training they need to be successful in the workplace.

How it works

These programs support the development of partnerships with First Nation Bands, Treaty Councils, Tribal Organizations, Métis Settlements, employers, government, and other Aboriginal organizations to create training and work experience projects that lead to employment for Indigenous members.

Who is eligible?

Eligible individuals

To qualify for this program, individuals must be:

  • an Indigenous member that is unemployed or marginally employed
  • in need of and benefit from skills training in order to obtain and maintain sustainable employment

Eligible organizations

To qualify for delivering this program, an eligible organization must be: a First Nations Band, Métis Settlement, Aboriginal community, a Treaty Council, a Tribal Organization, an employer, and / or a government organization.
