International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS)
The Government of Alberta is committed to improving foreign qualifications recognition. Our International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) assesses international educational credentials and compares them to educational credentials in Canada. IQAS is mandated to promote the fair recognition of education received outside of Canada. IQAS Assessments are designed to increase access and entry to: the job market, educational institutions and professional regulatory organizations. There are three types of assessments and the process is detailed.
To find out more information how you can apply for an IQAS educational assessment, please visit the apply now page.
As of July 2013, the processing time is approximately 12-14 weeks, time may vary based on the volume of applications that IQAS receives. In August 2013, IQAS introduced a new certificate paper with improved security features. Please refer to the samples of assessment certificates posted on our website to see the new certificate paper. Certificates previously issued remain valid.
At this time the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) does not provide assessments of academic credentials for immigration purposes. If you are applying to the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) please visit the CIC website for information on how to proceed with an application to immigrate to Canada.
