Part 36 Mining

Section 552 Emergency warning system

An employer at an underground coal mine must

(a) establish an effective emergency warning system that warns all workers at a work area of an emergency that requires prompt evacuation of the area, and

(b) ensure that the emergency warning system is tested at least once in every 12 month period and the results of that test, including remedial actions to address any identified deficiencies, are recorded in a logbook or electronic record that is maintained at the mine for that purpose for a period of three years and is available to an Officer upon request.
