North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week
May 1 to 7, 2016
North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week is an annual event recognized across Canada, the United States and Mexico. Locally, it is sponsored by the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering in partnership with Alberta Labour.
The goal of NAOSH Week is to focus the attention of employers, employees, the public and all partners in occupational health and safety on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace, at home and in the community.

Why should you get involved?
The Government of Alberta is proud to work with our Partners and Certifying Partners to prevent serious injuries, illnesses and fatalities in the workplace. Partners and Certifying Partners take a leadership role in health and safety and this leadership has contributed to excellent work in improving health and safety management in the workplace. Participation and involvement in NAOSH Week offers the following benefits:
- Improves attitudes towards safety
- Increases understanding of the importance of occupational health and safety
- Assists in team building and improves communication between employees, safety committees and safety professionals
